Dr Michael Hii is a senior consultant paediatric gastroenterologist at the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital in Brighton. With over 20 years of experience, he specialises in caring for children with a wide range of digestive problems and general medical concerns. He graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin in 1998 and went on to complete his postgraduate and specialist gastroenterology training in London. Following this, he spent two years as a Hepatology Clinical Fellow at the Supra-Regional Liver Centre at King’s College Hospital, after earning his Certificate of Completion of Training. In 2003, he was awarded an MSc in Paediatrics from the University of Birmingham.
Dr Hii is an active member of the British Society of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, and currently serves as lead paediatrician at Spire Gatwick Hospital. He also contributes his expertise as a committee member for the Children and Young People Department and the Medical Advisory Committee. His clinical interests include gut-related food allergies and intolerances, constipation, gastro-oesophageal reflux, infantile colic, nutrition, inflammatory bowel disease, and irritable bowel syndrome. In addition, he has broad experience in general paediatrics. Dr Hii has published widely and authored the chapter on pancreatic tumours in the sixth edition of Walker’s Pediatric Gastrointestinal Disease.
He understands how worrying it can be for parents to see their child unwell, and he is committed to providing thorough, timely care that puts families at ease. Dr Hii has developed a highly specialised approach to diagnosis and management. His integrated “all-in-one” service enables efficient assessments and swift diagnoses, easing the anxiety parents often face when their children are unwell. He has helped countless children recover and return to full health.
Outside of medicine, Dr Hii enjoys family life with his wife, Jun Yee, and their two children, Kai Jing and Jing Shuen. He also shares his passion for tennis by helping his children develop their skills on the court.
